TORONTO — PCL Construction’s Mike Widdifield, operations manager from the company’s Toronto office, was recently named the recipient of the 2026 Male Allyship Award from the Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC) for his contributions to advancing women in the industry.

Throughout his career, which has spanned more than two decades with PCL, he has used his influence to elevate women in the industry and advocate for access to leadership experiences, explains a release.

“Mike leads with intention and understands that creating equitable opportunities requires action, said Myke Badry, vice-president and district manager of PCL’s Toronto office, in a statement. “He consistently advocates for women when they are not in the room and ensures talented individuals receive the visibility and support needed to advance their careers. This recognition reflects the meaningful impact he continues to make within our organization and across the industry.

As PCL Toronto’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion sponsor, Widdifield has championed initiatives that expand representation and support career growth through high-profile assignments, leadership development and professional networking opportunities.

The district’s sponsorship program engaged 44 per cent of female operations employees, approximately double its participation target, and women have represented 46 per cent of new operations hires in Toronto this year.

“I’m honoured to receive this award and thankful to the many mentors, colleagues and team members who have shaped my career,â€ said Widdifield. “Building great projects starts with building great teams, and I believe our responsibility as leaders is to create an environment where people can bring their best, develop their potential and help shape the future of our industry.”

The Male Allyship Award honours a male leader who actively champions equity, elevates women’s voices and creates meaningful opportunities for women to succeed within their organizations and across the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» industry.
