Alberta invests $38.5M on proposed safety campus within Beaumont’s Innovation Park

EDMONTON – The Province of Alberta has announced it is investing $38.5 million to build the infrastructure to support Beaumont’s proposed Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) safety campus.

Funding will be provided to the City of Beaumont to construct the roads, utilities and municipal servicing needed to support development within Beaumont’s Innovation Park, including for the proposed safety campus, explains a release.

The investment will lay the groundwork for the proposed campus while opening the area to future investment and development.

The release states the proposed campus would provide specialized, hands-on training for law enforcement and commercial transportation professionals. Plans include an emergency vehicle operator course track for high-speed and emergency driver training, a firearms range, scenario-based training areas and dedicated commercial vehicle training facilities.

The provincial funding portion supports the municipal infrastructure needed to enable development of the safety campus and other compatible projects within Beaumont’s Innovation Park. The AMTA remains responsible for securing financing and for the design, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» and operation of the proposed facility, the release adds.
