Contract awarded for Webequie Supply Road in Ontario’s Ring of Fire

WEBEQUIE FIRST NATION — The Ontario government has awarded a contract to Sigfusson Northern LTD to be the Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ manager of the RFP Construction Manager – Webequie Supply RoadStatusPost-BidValue$900MLocationWebequie, ON P0T 3A0SectorPublic – State/ProvincialTypeRoads/HighwaysData as of September 30, 2026.

Earlier this year, the province that will connect Webequie First Nation to the Ring of Fire, a release reads.

The road network, including the Webequie Supply Road, will connect the Ring of Fire to First Nations communities across the region, improving access by providing the community its first all-season road access to the rest of Ontario.

The road is scheduled to open by November 2030.

Last year, the province and Webequie First Nation to accelerate Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ of the supply road, the release adds.

Other milestones in the Ring of Fire include:

  • In June, the province started working on major upgrades to the .
  • In August, provincial and federal approval was received for the Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ of the , the longest segment in the Ring of Fire road network.
  • The province has started work on the , a key gateway leading to the Ring of Fire.
  • In March, the province released a plan to accelerate Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ of leading to the Ring of Fire.
