National Day for Truth and Reconciliation: Building Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»â€™s future involves everyone

OTTAWA – Sept. 30 has been known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» since 2021.

It honours the children who never returned home and the survivors of residential schools as well as their families and communities.

As part of the reconciliation process government and associations alike ensure this tragic history and its ongoing impacts are commemorated.

Construction is no exception.

Over the years industry initiatives have advanced Indigenous involvement in major projects, labour and skilled trades programs and various building methodologies.

The Daily Commercial News and Journal of Commerce have compiled several recent articles that illustrate the impacts being made by Indigenous thought-leaders, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» associations and government.

Some of the articles also illustrate how much more work there is to be done, and the important role Indigenous communities play in shaping the country’s future, especially given the uncertain political climate and the push to build Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» up.
