COLLINGWOOD, ONT. — Engineering and planning services company Ainley Group recently celebrated its 65th anniversary with a $65,000 investment in the community where the company was founded.
It began in Collingwood, Ont. in 1961 with William “Bill Ainley at the helm.
Since then, it has grown from a local engineering practice into a multidisciplinary organization serving municipalities and other public- and private-sector clients from six offices across Ontario, a release reads.
To commemorate its anniversary, the $65,000 donation was made to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation in support of Tomorrow’s Hospital, a new health care facility that’s being planned for the growing South Georgian Bay region.
“We wanted our 65th anniversary to be about more than looking back — we wanted it to be about giving back, said Joe Mullan, president and CEO, in a statement. “Supporting Tomorrow’s Hospital is a meaningful way to give back to the community where our firm began and to contribute to infrastructure that will serve local families for generations.
The passing of Simon Ainley shortly before the anniversary gave the milestone added significance for the Ainley family and the firm’s employees.
As chairman, Simon helped carry forward the values and commitment to community established by Ainley’s founders and remained closely involved in shaping the company’s direction.
In addition to the donation, the company also developed a new logo.
“Simon wanted our brand to reflect both the foundation Ainley has built and the organization we have become, said Christine Thorburn, vice-president, marketing and proposals. “His involvement in this initiative makes the new logo especially meaningful. It reflects the firm he helped lead, as well as the values that continue to guide us.
Its design represents innovation, growth, collaboration and connection while evoking the roads, waterways and infrastructure that support community progress, the release notes.
“While the logo has evolved, Ainley Group’s established colours remain, preserving continuity with the recognition and trust the firm has built during its 65-year history, the release notes.
“The revitalized identity reinforces the idea that infrastructure is ultimately about people. Whether planning a transportation corridor, improving a water or wastewater system, rehabilitating a bridge or supporting community growth, Ainley Group works alongside its clients to create infrastructure that strengthens the places people call home.
