VICTORIA — Fusion Rise Inc., a Canadian registered charity, has launched the Fusion Rise Project-to-Career Initiative, which has been designed to turn renovation, repair, maintenance and Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» projects into opportunities for people building careers in the skilled trades.
According to a release, more than 10 residential projects are currently under review, and two local contractors have submitted expressions of interest to support the initiative.
Built around a simple message — “You Bring the Project. We Build the Workforce. — Project-to-Career invites homeowners, landlords, property managers, stratas, housing providers, businesses, developers and community organizations across B.C. to submit eligible projects.
Fusion Rise then screens submitted projects and co-ordinates opportunities based on location, trade requirements and timing.
“The early response shows us there is interest on both sides of this model, said Dr. Oneil Randal, founder and executive director of Fusion Rise, in a statement. “Property owners have projects that need to be completed, contractors need a stronger pipeline of skilled workers, and people entering the trades need opportunities to gain real experience. Project-to-Career is designed to connect those pieces.
Eligible projects may include property maintenance, home improvements and renovations, repairs and Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» and site services, the release notes.
“We want a participant’s first project to become more than work experience,â€ added Randal. “We want it to become a reference, a connection to an employer, a pathway into an apprenticeship and, ultimately, the beginning of a career.â€
The organization is welcoming expressions of interest from contractors, employers, skilled tradespeople, mentors and community partners interested in supporting participants.
