WINNIPEG — The federal government has announced it is investing up to $27.1 million through the direct delivery stream of the Build Communities Strong Fund for the Rutland Trunk Sewer project to improve drainage infrastructure.
The City of Winnipeg is contributing approximately $42.2 million.
According to a release, the project will help build approximately two kilometres of land drainage trunk sewer within the Ferry Road combined sewer district.
The new infrastructure will expand existing drainage capacity, support sewer separation, reduce the risk of basement flooding, and reduce combined sewer overflow volumes to the Red River and Assiniboine River, helping to protect water quality in Lake Winnipeg, the release describes.
